Rationale

New Emerging Technology Skills (NETS) is a tool to provide employment and good livelihood options for unemployed youth and help to improve the productivity of the society. Various conventional Vocation Education and Training Systems are full of activities in the regular curriculum. However the curriculum comprises of theory and practical of various sectors. It is seen that, it is not enough for the increasing population thereby increasing unemployment to walk the same way. Hence, it has become imperative to take help of NET Skills and provide market oriented skill based livelihoods for the youth, to respond to the present and future requirements.

These new technology skills in the select areas of Modern Appliances Maintenance, Bio-Technology, ICT, Energy and Environment etc. are also characterized by the rapid technology advancements and progress in each field. Creating NET’s Nodal Centres in the backward regions will play an important role in this initiative. It is expected to convert unemployed youth in to “future mechanics” using this high end and emerging technologies in the selected sectors.

Under this initiative, it is proposed to train 3000 youth, selected carefully from the backward regions of the proposed three states of the country. The three institutions selected, TREC-STEP, Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu, South India, Vivekananda Institute of Bio-Technology, West Bengal, East India and  Science and Technology Park, Pune, Maharashtra, West India have great reputation in the selected fields of the project and have worked together in mutual partnership, in many similar projects. So, with a set of synergizing activities planned, the proposal provides an unmatchable bandwidth of benefits to the most vulnerable and marginalized sections of the backward regions for future progress with skills integration
