Urban GIS deals with detailed mapping, delineation and attribute attachment to urban amenities like, building properties, gardens, recreational places; facilities like transportation, navigational, hospitals, fire-stations etc. and utility based water and drainage pipelines, electrical lines and telecommunication on recently procured satellite images. Such activities help Urban Local Bodies (ULB’s) in proper and realistic assessment of their land and resource management followed by better emergency service management, law enforcement and security measures. It also eradicates the problem of mismanagement; data redundancy, and helps in efficient information sharing with shared pool of information for everyone concerned.
