Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign

Science and Technology Park in partnership with United Nations Environment Program has taken up a plantation program under UNEP's "Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign"

In this project STP will be planting nearly 12000 trees at two locations- University of Pune Campus and Balewadi Sports Complex. With an aim to conserve biological diversity and to help increase faunal diversity, all the trees selected are indigenous with good ornamental, ecological and medicinal value. STP will ensure survival of all the plants and maintain them for a period of 5 years.

The program was initiated at the hands of Dr. R. K Shevgaonkar on 15^th December 2010 at the Sports complex of University in the presence of Dr. Rajendra Jagdale, Director General & CEO, STP; Shri. Vasudev Jadhav, Conservator of Forests, Government of Maharashtra; Shri. R. V. Patil, Executive Engineer, University of Pune; Dr. Deepak Mane, Director, Board of Sports, University of Pune.
