Workshop on Environment Impact Assessment for River Valley Projects Day: Wednesday, 30th November 2011 Venue: Yashada Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a planning and management tool for decision support system, which ensures integration of environmental and social concerns in development planning by identifying environmental and social impacts of proposed development projects and adopting remedial or mitigation measures. It is essential to conserve nature and natural resources for the better future. Developmental activities are a necessity for the continuous progress of the community, but quantification of impact of these activities on the environment and natural resources should be carried out. The impacts may be positive or negative but its quantification and mitigation measures are similarly crucial. The process and procedures for the same cannot be established unless the quantification and impact parameters are not studied. Fundamentally it is essential to understand the requirements, legalities, methods and practices involved in the EIA and EMP studies. Scitech Park’s activities in the areas of Environment Conservation have been recognized at various levels. We have been carrying out EIA & EMP Studies, Environment Education, Biodiversity Assessment, Environment Status Reports, Eco-tourism potential studies, international certification, etc. This would be an extensive brainstorming session to understand the processes and procedures of EIA & EMP.
